    Default Request: Booklet Layout

    Hi All

This is an issue that has bugged me from day one and does not seem to have been addressed.

In Impose, creating a booklet is covered for creating A4 or A5 booklets, but when it comes to A6 booklets it would be really useful to have a new set of features.

I'm possibly right in saying that most of us will print on SRA3 or equivalent sheets so A4 and A5 booklets are no problem with the 1x2, 2x2 and 2x2 Repeat Booklet options, but it would be really helpful to have a 4x2 for producing A6 booklets.

Currently there is either the option to manually pagenate (time consuming) or, as I currently do, create the layout on SRA4, save as a flattened pdf and then re-impose as a Gangup Repeat on SRA3.

Please, please, please, give us the option for a 4x2 layout for A6 booklets.

    I thank you!

    Gavin,

I have never had the opportunity to play with it, but if memory serves, Fiery Job Master has an option for multi-up booklets. I have always used the flattened PDF/gang-up myself.

    Cheers!

    Hi Gavin,

Thank you for taking the time to offer this suggestion. Would you mind offering some insight into how you would perform the finishing on a 4x2 Unique and 4x2 Repeat booklet? Is there a particular offline finisher you would use?

    Thanks
    Mark

We have a 10-bay Duplo System 2000 collator and booklet maker which suits most of our needs so we can finish up to 40pp booklets in-house. Anything over this we either finish by hand with a Boston stitcher or send out depending on quantities. But it's the imposition that sucks! Using a two-stage process is time consuming and could be resolved with my suggestion.

Thanks Shawn bu I see that Fiery Job Master is an additional expense license which we do not have.

Hi Gavin, unless I'm mistaken the Duplo 2000 is a 2up (1x2) booklet maker that will do a center fold and then trimming. How would you cut and separate the 4x2 sheet into 4 separate 1x2 sheets?

    Thanks

Yes, you're correct - we trim out first (effectively 4 x SRA5 sheets) then put through to create the booklet - but it's not the finishing that causes us the problem - it's the initial imposing.

    Hi Gavin,

One more question. Is your requested workflow always a repeat booklet (meaning each 1x2 SRA5 sheet is the same signature)? Or do feel there is value in a 4x2 Unique booklet (meaning each 1x2 SRA5 sheet is a different signature)?

    Thanks
    Mark

Thanks Gavin. I will pass your request to the Fiery Impose Product Manager so that it can be added to the new feature backlog.

    Thank you
