Default Reinstall Fiery Command WorkStation 5.8 on Mac impossible

The Reinstall Fiery Command WorkStation 5.8 instruction is wrong. --> http://help.efi.com/cwspackage/6.0/4...S58_Readme.pdf

My customer (MacOS 10.12) had installed the CWS 6.0 although his Fiery Server is System 9. He used the Reinstall Fiery Command WorkStation 5.8 instructions to correct the error.

Uninstall Fiery Command WorkStation 6.0 using the Fiery Software Uninstaller works correctly.
    Download the Fiery-Software-Manager.dmg from http://www.efi.com/marketing/fiery-s...orkstation-58/

A message appears in the Fiery Software Manager.dmg that the Fiery Software Manager must be updated. It is not possible to download the CWS 5.8 without updating the Fiery software manager. After updating, CWS 5.8 is no longer available. This is the error!

I could help my customers by sending him the correct link. http://www.efi.com/de-de/support-and...ons v4.4.0.843
For a user, it is not possible to get this solution. Please fix this error on your page as soon as possible.

    Kind regard,
    Enrico

    Hi Enrico,

I'm not seeing this problem. Something is missing.

I clicked on the link from our website, which you posted below. It points to this URL
    https://d1umxs9ckzarso.cloudfront.ne...sPackage44.dmg

Once downloaded, I have the full package, it's named FieryApplicationsPackage44.dmg and it's 576MB.

Open that package and inside I have an object called 'Install Fiery Command Workstation 5.8'. I clicked on that, ran it, and at the end I have CWS5 installed, and working. I never saw or opened Fiery Software Manager as part of this whole procedure.

Here's what I'm thinking could've happened - when you uninstalled CWS6 you used a Fiery Software Uninstaller version that was older, not the version that shipped with CWS6. To rectify this, grab the full CWS6 package from here and take the Fiery Software Uninstaller.

Run it to uninstall any CWS, Hot Folders or other Fiery software apps you have installed. Once you remove the last one it should prompt 'Remove Fiery Software Manager as well?' - Click yes.

Now close the uninstaller and try the 5.8 install again.

    Oops!
After further investigation I found we had a website bug, which did not occur when loading the page in English. We just fixed the bug.

Now all the different language pages point to the correct full package containing CWS5 (FieryApplicationsPackage44.dmg), not Fiery Software Manager.

This package is also available on our download site:
    http://www.efi.com/support-and-downl...&product=Fiery Extended Applications v4.4.0.843

    Sorry for the inconvenience,

    - G.

Im also trying to reinstall/uninstall the software manager but cant find the
uninstaller file(im on a PC but i guess there should be a uninstaller file in the same package for PC aswell. I read somewhere else (cant find the thread now) where someone wrote that there should be a "Fiery Software Manager Unistaller" folder in the Extended Applications Package 44

i also found this thread thats sums it up: http://fieryforums.efi.com/showthrea...ight=uninstall

So could it be the same kind of bug?

There is no Fiery Software Uninstaller for Windows, only for Mac.

In Windows you can use the standard Add/Remove programs menu, to remove the Fiery Command Workstation package, and the Fiery Software Manager.

Once these are gone (and reboot if asked), then use the link below to download the full package which includes the latest CWS 5.8 release.

Let me know if still any issues,

Default Mac OS 10.12 - Uninstaller successful, but 5.8 installer reports CWS6 still there?

User has an older Fiery, System 9, had a problem with his iMac desktop computer, so he brought in his MacBook into work. He loaded CWS6 on it. When it kept crashing - - and when it did launch - - not finding his Fiery server, he called and asked me to take a look.

Of course some quick research revealed that CWS6 wouldn't work on Fiery's older than System 10, so we ran the Mac uninstaller that came with the CWS6 .dmg download to remove it so that we could load up CWS 5.8.

The uninstaller ran normally, reporting the expected pop-up messages to keep settings etc. etc. with the final pop-up asking if we wanted to also uninstall the Fiery Software Manager, to which we selected 'yes'. Although not asked at this point, we went ahead and restarted the MacBook just to be sure everything was cleared out of working memory.

When we went to install the Mac extended apps v4.4.0.856 (which is advertised to be the correct version for his MacBook OS 10.12 Sierra and contains CWS5.8.0.107), the installer reported that there was a "newer version" of the Command Workstation application already installed??? And of course it wouldn't allow us to install CWS5.8.

So next we re-ran the Mac uninstaller just to be sure, and all that it's reporting as being installed on the MacBook is the print driver, which is the correct driver version for his IC-413 v1.0 Fiery DFE, and works as expected (File>Print workflows).

I suppose at this point I need some instructions on how to go into terminal as the "sudo" user or something similar and clean out some files hanging around - - if I only knew where to look and which files to blow away.... seems sort of dangerous, but I've successfully done that type of thing back in the day.

Short of that type of rather drastic action, are there any other ideas out there?
Where did we go wrong here?

    Thanks!
    Jeff
