So with the Change of the IP Address (it was stubborn and didn't want to change) but we prevailed I ran 500 x SRA3 128gsm single sided colour no probs, I ran 145 x SRA3 300gsm single sided with no problems at all. Early days yet but looks promising.

A cable replacement was done this afternoon from HD to Motherboard. Had no effect on preventing crashes. I think there is a Motherboard replacement tomorrow if it can get down here overnight, otherwise it will be next day.

I'm getting the work printed it just takes a bit longer with all the Fiery restarts.

1.) has your dealer updated firmware on C1085 to current level?

2.) In Command WorkStation (CWS5), go to Device Center tab, General, then Server Configuration. Look over to upper right and select "Save as...", then select PDF, and select location to save PDF file. Attach that Configuration page PDF to Forum reply.

3.) You mention "crashing", but what exactly do you mean by that? Does Fiery disconnect in CWS5? Does CWS5 freeze and not allow you to exit it? Does Windows itself become non-responsive?

4.) How do you recover from "crash"?

5.) Have dealer run the hardware diagnostic CDROM on your Fiery. Make sure to run "Complete" diagnostics and see if any errors are detected. Use version 2.02 diagnostic (part number on CD is 45113347)

For troubleshooting perhaps you could import / prints jobs to Hold queue, set Job Properties there, then "Process and Hold" Does Fiery freeze up during this operation? If not, then select "Print". Already processed job sent to engine. Does freeze happen in this operation? Do this for awhile using other jobs to see when freezes occur. This may help narrow down the root cause.

You can also collect Job Error Report (JER). Next time you recover from crash, go to CWS5 and highlight last processed (or error-ed) job, then Ctrl- right click it. Zip up that JER and upload it to:

    ftp.efi.com

    username: customer
    password: cu$Tom3r

Place Zip file in "ScottW" folder

EFI can then examine error logs

    Hi Scott,

There is a new Motherboard here to be installed right at the moment.

The Technicians are under the control of their management which is taking the info from KM Australia. So they see what you have written but will proceed down their own path to fix the problem.

The new Motherboard made the crashing worse now in that jobs crash/freeze at the end of the every job so far. We no longer have the Licence Code for the impose software so we running demo. Demo actually puts DEMO on the printed sheet. This is ok when running business cards as I just run a few more sheets, but for all other jobs I can't run them.

A New Interface board is on the way to us and also a Complete New Fiery Hardware Unit.

We trying to track down a New Licence Code to use this afternoon.

The complete New Fiery Workstation is in transit hopefully it will arrive tomorrow.

When the upgrade to the Ram and HD the Fiery was update to 5.8.0.39 sp2

The ram in the C1085 was re-seated today.

A new problem was occurring this afternoon with the Fiery not communicating with the C1085 when selecting paper stocks. When the paper stock was selected on the C1085 it registered in the Fiery but when the job is selected in the setup area the paper is not there to select at the top in the area where the 3 trays are located. Also when running jobs and paper runs out, after the paper stock is loaded and job goes to start the paper is not available until it is found which can up to a minute or so.

Again I'm getting the work printed but it takes time to do the restarts the proper way by closing the Fiery and restarting the windows software.

It'll be interesting if these problems continue with a completely new Fiery system.
