    Default Wildly inaccurate print times?

I am connected to a 83-A for a Ricoh 7110x and the print time estimates are wildly inaccurate. So much so that we don't bother even using the app anymore.

The job running right now is about a 60 minutes job and the GO app is reporting back 836 minutes to completion. This is running on both the iOS and Android versions. Maybe there is an issue with our RIP communicating properly.

Thank you in advance for the help.

The estimated print time is normally based on measuring how much of the job has already printed, and how much is remaining, similar to a download from the web. If you have a Fiery running FS100 Pro or later with a local monitor/keyboard, you may see an application called Fiery Ticker running there. The estimated print time shown by Fiery Ticker should be the same estimate shown by Fiery Go; it's a number estimated by the Fiery server itself (not Fiery Go). So I would expect the iOS and Android versions to show the same data.

Can you let me know more details about the kinds of files you are seeing this on? Perhaps variable data jobs or imposed jobs?

    Thanks,
    Mike

The job that I referenced in the first post was a variable job using a PDF/VT file. About 95% of our jobs are imposed.

The next time we are running something of volume we will make note of it and post the details.

Finally getting back to this. We are currently running this job:

    284 sets of 15 pages/30 clicks (13x19)

Fiery Go is saying that it is going to take ~360 minutes, but via stopwatch and math it looks like it will take just over 190 minutes.

This is not a variable job.

This is running on a Ricoh 7110X with an E-83A RIP

The above mentioned job ended up taking about 240 minutes included stopping to reload etc.

Thanks for the additional information, sbyprint. I will forward this to our team to investigate and report back when I receive an update from them.

Here's another one for you. About 1950 sheets of 13x19 printed 4/4 2 sided.

Fiery Go says it will take 479 minutes.
Real world, this will take 215 minutes.

This is a variable job, it is a pdf/vt file generated from Fusion Pro, but since it is a VT file, the entire file is processed.

Default Fiery Ticker Meter not working

    Hi All

I'm finding that the Print Speed Meter is totally unresponsive to print jobs. Currently printing a 2000+ sheet job and the meter hasn't moved off zero after 600 sheets.

    Any suggestions?

Thank you for the reports, the examples provided gives us a good scenario to work off of.

From what I can gather, the print estimation time on Fiery Go is provided by the server. (So it'll be the same on Fiery Ticker.)

When RIP-while-Printing, both the "current printing page" and "total number of pages" values climb as more pages are ripped, until all pages have been ripped. I believe that is completely expected, as the Fiery doesn't have the total number of pages to be printed until the job completes ripping.

However, if Fiery Go is reporting a different a different time than Fiery Ticker, there may be another issue we need to investigate. I will pass on any other examples you guys may have to our engineering team.
