Default Where is time saved using Free Form Master?

When using FreeForm Master, where exactly is the time saved:
    • Initial processing of the static file?
    • Initial processing of the variable file?
    • Both of the above?
    • Actual printing?
    • All of the above?

    Default

initial processing of the static file.

    Consider:

    * the variable file is, well, variable--which means everything is different and therefore must RIP

    * printing is printing, there's nothing that can fix that as long as the file is RIPping faster than the print engine

    * if you have a static background and you want to print it 10,000 times, why in the world would you want to RIP it 10,000 times? You wouldn't.

Process the background once, overlay each variable page on top of it every time. Bam. You can get HUGE efficiencies in the RIP this way if your variable overlay isn't complex.
