Default Bustled Fiery - Xerox Colour C60 Press - pre sale questions

    Hi all,

We are a small digital print company based in the uk.
Until last week we have used Xerox office based machines with standard postscript drivers. However we now have a new Colour C60 with single tray, air assisted OHCF and a postscript kit to enable us to use the postscript driver.

We needed better registration accuracy, faster speed, higher resolution and no more paper miss-feeds / multiple feeds.

We tested a couple of jobs today that our office based machines could not colour match, oddly enough these jobs are mostly purple with purple text, and sadly the results from the C60 are exactly the same.

So, will a bustled fiery nail this colour problem and can it also solve RGB colour problems in strict RGB artwork ?

    Thanks in advance,

    Mick

    Hello Mick,

I would advise you to contact your Xerox dealer. He should be able to print samples for you.

And to answer your question, yes the Fiery is great at handling RGB colors, whether it comes from Office or Illustrator... It's one of the many advantages you'll find with a Fiery.

    Hope this helps,
    l-

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply.
Does a Fiery improve front to back registration consistency ?
We are having horrific problems with registration consistency throughout the print run.

    Thanks

Are you using the SIQA registration tool ?

    Hi,

Yes we have been using siqa and we feel its a bit of a useless gimmick to be honest. You can spend ages tweaking siqa to get it right and set it to the tray permanently, then start your print run and it drifts x and y axis and skew erratically throughout the run.

Certainly not what we were expecting !

Would a fiery help with this ?

    Thanks

A Fiery will not fix registration issues - the registration is done on the device it self. From speaking to my Customers their experience using SIQA is different from yours ?

Has your C60 had the Registration set up from scratch by a Xerox tech ? how far out are we talking ? also which stocks exhibit the issue most ? I assume it is more likely to be heavy weight SRA3..?

    Hi,

Thanks for telling me a Fiery wont change this. That's what I expected but wanted to be sure, we have never used a Fiery.

Its on all stocks, we had a Xerox tech turn up with delivery of the machine and he set siqa, did 1 test print and said 'that's it' its done, for the weight of stock in use which was 130 gms gloss. Then we did a print run and it was erratic throughout.

Since then I have spent many hours creating siqa profiles and tweaking them for x, y, skew etc and none of them are consistent.

On average its about 1.5 mm but up to 2.5mm, in any direction or skew.
If an engineer looks at it, it will probably be close to spec and he will say 'its within spec', but this is the worst registration we have ever had and all of our previous machines were 'office based' machines, some of which had perfect 100% registration throughout.

    Thanks

Nope. That's a function of the print engine.

The C60 isn't designed for print for pay, really.

That's not what 2 premier partner Xerox dealers and also Xerox's advertising told us !

We were told we would be 'floored' and 'fall off our chairs' at the difference between our previous office based machines and this c60 'print for pay' 'light production commercial press' !

Im sick of being lied to by machine dealers and agents who just want to take our money and run.

    The industry stinks !!
