KM 950 Insertion Capabilities
Any know issues with accessing the insertion unit on a KM950? Client's Fiery Central shows the insertion unit in Fiery Central Manager but when sending a Media Call to the Insertion unit with the correct media registered, Job ask for media from any tray other than Insertion unit?
Thanks

For the KM B/W non-Fiery driven printers, if you want to pull media from the post insertion tray (S), you must use the post insertion media calls: PI Tray 1, PI Tray 2, etc.
When Services installed the system, they should have added these KM tray media calls into the paper library. Using these catalog entries does not require the user to be specific or assign a media catalog entry on the machine to the post insertion trays.
Kind Regards,

Thanks Randy,
From the job properties, is the user to select "New Insert" leaving the Paper Catalog at "none defined" and then challenged at the machine. Not sure if I fully understand.
Thanks again!

Create a paper catalogue entry for the sheets you wish to insert.
This is something that also happens in the driver itself and is resolved this way.

Lofflersupport ,
how are you inserting the cover pages? are you doing this through Mixed Media or Impose.
So as mentioned earlier, if you are pulling media from a post insertion tray and using Fiery Central and a KM Print device, typical media calls such as Hammermill letter, or 80# Cover, do not work. You must create a media entry in the Fiery Central media catalog exactly as follows minus quotation marks "PI Tray 1" this is for post insertion tray 1, "PI Tray 2" for post insertion tray 2, etc.
Now if you are inserting from Job Properties/Mixed media, select Define cover. you can select Apply the same settings for both Front and Back cover if you are looking for a front and back. For front cover select Insert. Then select Media and select your PI Tray 1 or PI Tray 2 entry. That is all there is to it.

Be aware that Fiery Central supports the 951, but not the 950.

Thank you for the clarification. This makes sense. I will test this with our client.
Thanks again!
