Default desperate: Xerox EX Print Server, Powered by Fiery to upgrade

    Hello

Thanks for all the help that is possible, we are desperate.

    WHAT WE HAVE:
    Xerox 700d
Xerox EX Print Server Media Pack v1.0SP1, 2008
    Powered by Fiery.

    EFI Command WorkStation (Windows Edition)
    Version: CWS 4.6.0.31
    EFI Impose
    Version: 2.7.0.34
    EFI Mixed Media
    Version: 1.3
    EFI Preflight
    Version: 1.1.0.4
    EFI Job Properties
    Version: 1.1.0.71

    running on:

    Windows XP Professional
    Version: 5.1
    build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.070227-2254 : Service Pack 2

    WHAT WE WANT:
    Upgrade.
Because EX Print Server is from 2008 and Windows XP is getting old.
The all server system start to go down a lot.

    PROBLEMS:
Xerox and other technician told us: "... don't upgrade, you will have a lot more problems ..."
Xerox is only willing to reinstall the same old system. Why?

    QUESTIONS:
How can we upgrade everything in a save and "easy" way?
How can we keep or set back our settings after upgrade?
Can we install and use EFI CWS 5.4 on this system while EFI Impose 2.7 still works?
Why do we have to stay with the same old system from Xerox?

    OTHER QUESTIONS:
Why is EFI CWS 5.3 and 5.4 not finding the Xerox EX Print Server?
Why is it not possible to type IP numbers in the EFI CWS 5.3 server search window?

Unfortunately - it isn't as simple as might first appear..

The main issue is that the OS that you see is embedded, hence XPe / XP Pro FES - that is why you get a Fiery System Disk 1 ( Which contains the OS ) & not a "pukka" MS XP disk.

If you want to upgrade the OS on your RIP the short answer is you need to buy another machine with another Fiery RIP on it. This will have a system 10 image on it which will be Win 7 x64 - before you ask no you cannot just buy a new RIP & bolt on your DC700 it wont work - the reason why EFI / Xerox do this is to make money... else everyone would stick with a DC12 which was Windows 8 compliant..

The system you have will work - if there are issues with crashing etc - place a service call & get the RIP reloaded & patched - then if you still have isses, escalate from there..
Remember you are what you eat ! I'm a twix..
