Default VDP font issues with Fiery system 9

    Hello all,
We're new to the Fiery and are having issues with fonts not embedded in our PPML or VPS's. We use Fusion Pro to write our VDP files and in the past have not had any issues with our Kodak M700 (which was a Canon 6000) with Kodak front end sending VDX files to print. We now have a new Canon 7010 with Fiery system 9 and Command WS 5.4 and we're being told we have to use ONLY Postscript fonts. We never had any issues in the past with VDX and fonts. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!!

    Hi DigiRod,

For Fiery servers PPML/VDX is not supported, just checking to make sure you're aware of this. In the compose menu of Fusion Pro please make sure your selecting PPML as the output format and under the output tab, options to embed fonts & font subsets.

Can you give me more info on what font type your using, true type, open type, etc.?

    Nanny,
When we installed the new Canon and Fiery CWS5, we were told to write our VDP files out of FusionPro as PPML. When we started we had fonts turning to Courier which we never had before using VDX files from Fusion. Today we had a job that used Helvetica OpenType font and it turned to Courier when we printed. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi DigiRod,

Font subsitution is likely occuring on the Fiery when processing the PPML because the fonts are either not embedded in the .PPML file or as a resoures in the zip file.

From the Fusion Pro compose dialog under the output tab is the options section, select to embed fonts and font subset for PPML.

This should ensure the fonts are embedded in the zip for processing, if not please let me know.
