Default Very unusual import bug (possibly memory issue) 5.1.1.04

We're using CW5 to archive lots and lots of jobs we print on a consistent basis, and just recently encountered some very frustrating behavior from the software when importing either from the archived jobs tab or from File>Import Archived Jobs. When importing, the task appears as normal on the bottom status bar, but when brought in, the file's settings (i.e. so far, CMYK/grayscale, paper size and media type) will be completely different. Cover stock that's supposed to print in CMYK will show and print in grayscale, inside pages will print on wrong-sized paper or coverstock, etc.

We do have a little over 5,000 jobs archived, and we've kept all of them so far in the archived jobs tab for easy access. When we deleted a couple of these, and also many of the jobs that had accumulated on the held jobs queue, this seemed to allow the jobs to come in with the proper settings. These problems happen on two of our computers, one with 500MB of RAM and another with 1GB of RAM, and the archived files in question are on an off-site server.

Any insight into this would be appreciated!

When you archive your jobs - do you go into Archive Manager & choose a file path that does not reside on the RIP ?

Your post seems to imply that you are effectively using you PS RIP as a file server ? also I would suggest that the current version of CWS 5 you are using is somewhat behind the times..?

Also a Software Bug is generally seen across many users - if the "bug" that you are seeing only occurs with you ? then it generally isn't a bug ?!

Upgrade to the latest version - re-archive your files off-line to suitable media & then retest - if you still see the same issue - re-post exact replication steps, vendor , make, model etc..
