Default HELP! Mixedplex can't print with Perfect Binder on IKON Fiery PRO-80 v3.0a w- updates

IKON Fiery PRO-80 Issue: Mixedplex can't print with Perfect Binder

We have set up the IKON Fiery PRO-80 controller in this order:

    System software v3.0
    User Software v3.0A
    Patch 1-ZZ5Q5
    - Reboot system
    Patch 1-10RYRN
    - Reboot system
    Patch 1-118JRE
    - Reboot system

Unfortunately the printing out of mixedplex in combination with the Perfect Binder is still not possible because no page areas can be defined (see screenshots below).

Although the patch 1-118JRE is necessary for the support of mixedplex, however, there is no reference to the Perfect Binder because the patch was developed for the original purpose to use mixedplex in combination with Z-Fold (attached you find the release note).

This is a serious problem for us - what can be done to remedy this?

We've even started over and completely reloaded everything from scratch again including all the 3.0a patches that we copuld find that might be related: ss v3.0, us v3.0a, patch 1-ZZ5Q5, then all these other patches in this order - 1-10RYRN, 1-13LSI6, 1-14DDVL, 1-14UXFO, 1-118JRE, 1-XV8HD, and reboots after every single patch. After all is loaded, the issue is still the same -- we cannot use mixplex in combination with the Perfect Binder. We cannot define any page range. Is there something in this mix of patches that should not be there? Is there a specific order we should be loading these patches after 1-ZZ5Q5 that might be causing this? Also, How do you load the Fiery System Update utility on a PRO-80 without FACI kit?

Please let me know - the matter is urgent for us to print properly in this format - thank you.

    Best regards,

    Jason

Unfortunately, there are no Ikon Fierys for that engine type that support mixedplex in combination with the Perfect Binder finisher.

The only Fiery that can do this, on this engine type, is the Konica Minolta IC-303/305 v3.0a.
That Fiery also must use post-release patch/driver 1-1A41WX. Then it will only support mixedplex Z-fold with Perfect Binder finisher.

One thing to keep in mind, the Ikon controller, while at v3.0x, is Fiery System 8r2

The v3.0x KM controller is Fiery System 9
So while controller hardware looks the same, and they are both at v3, the KM Fiery is a very differnt animal

Default Are there any plans to correct this controller issue?

Are there any plans to correct this controller issue? I understand that IKON is now Ricoh and their driving force is to migrate all of the existing IKON customers over to all Ricoh systems, but that is not practical for those of us that have expensive systems less than 2 years old. I know Konica Minolta has abandoned IKON for parts and support due to the competition, but why has EFI stopped supporting and properly updating the IKON/KM based Fiery controllers? Has fix patch development completely ceased on the IKON KM PRO80 controller? Because it's not like this is a passable bug in the controller -- it downright fails to operate the two functions together like the IC-305 controller can. Our IC-305 performs this function just fine. Scott, can you place a request for this functionality patch to be developed? This is a major, major problem for us right now and these systems are not cheap disposable units.

Also, on the IC-305 v3.0a. We have one of these units as well on a true KM C6501. The unit is running v3.0 with all of the latest KM patches available, but there is a v3.0a? Is this a "USER DVD" upgrade like the PRO-80 v3.0a process? How do we upgrade this unit to v3.0a? Our KM authorized service tech hasnít a clue and works under the motto "if it's not broken, don't fix it", but I would like to keep on top of this and keep our Fiery network completely up to date.

Back when v3 was released (mid 2008) for Ikon, this functionality did not exist. And for the KM equivalent (v2.1) it did not exist either.

Shortly thereafter Ikon decided not to proceed with System 9 for this controller. But KM did - and that is why the System 9 KM controller supports it (with post release patch)

Developement (and adding of new features) for the Ikon controller froze at that point in time. The addition of this functionality to a System 8r2 Fiery would have been, in 2008, definitely a feature request - not a bug. Unfortunately, there are no plans to do any more developement on this Fiery.

EFI still does support this controller (hardware, bugs, etc.), and will continue to do so for quite some time.

There is no way to convert a Ikon Pro80 into a KM Pro80

    KM does have a v3.0a upgrade kit available for IC-303 / IC-305
It consists of System and User DVD's
