    Default PDF Standards

Hi, we have two digital color devices driven by Fiery frontends and I am wondering which of the Adobe PDF standards would be the best to have customers provide their PDF's using. We have a Canon ImagePress 7000 and a Richo C900 both running EFI Fiery System8 Release 2 Version 4.0.

Is one of the Adobe standards the best way to request PDF's that are created to be compitable with our setup, while still providing the customer with the ability to use the most design options possible, or would a custom Distiller Job Options profile be better if it is customized correctly?

    Thanks,

PDF/X3 - if you do not want to incorporate any colour management/profile with the file
Pass for Press - is also a good one.

It really depends what contraints you want in the PDF

If you've installed Impose, you can also use one of the Fiery optimized settings that gets installed into Distiller. If it's good enough for EFI to use internally, it's a good starting point for files to be sent to any Fiery as well.

Ok thanks, I have not heard of Pass for Press. Is that an actual PDF standard and is there a Distiller joboptions available for it?

Yes that is a good point, I was just hoping to be able to tell the designers and content creators to use one of the options that everyone already is familiar with and most likely has loaded as on option in their software already.
