E-43A Color Controller - Windows Updates

Hi,

We have an E-43A Color Controller which runs on Windows 7 Pro. Should we run Windows updates? We have 47 'Important' and 7 'Optional' pending.

Hi Gareth,

Yes, updates are a good thing. Microsoft maintains the OS with important security updates, these are not included in the Fiery patches.
Brace yourself, though. It'll take a while.
I would recommend starting Windows Updates in the afternoon/evening and letting it run overnight. It'll be done by morning.

Interesting I thought we were told before not to update Windows.

Seems kind of risky to do that on a production machine.

I'm reluctant to run all the updates too. Obviously in a normal Windows environment as a desktop PC then I would always keep Windows updated. But on a production machine used as a RIP I'm not sure how they might affect the Fiery software.

We keep our E43-A's on windows 7 pro up to date on updates and have no problems with machine operation. They are installed on ProC7110's.
