Hi!

Are there any "real life" recommendations for the amount of patches needed to have an accurate profile on a KM C6000 using the current CPS?

Unfortunately, we only have an ES2000 available and therefore, measuring 4096 patches would require a lot of time :o

I've seen just the minimum number of patches make a huge difference. Give it a try.

Well, yes and no

I'm still comparing the results with the KM ColorCare profile and my CPS "evaluations" are still showing some heavy problems, especially when it comes to coloured grey areas which look really close to that I see on screen when using the KM profile.

My CPS profile (built with around 200 patches) shows colour shifts on these areas. Either to green or red...

If I compare the ripped data using ImageViewer I don't see any differences on the black channel (therefore I guess, "black start" and "width" are identical)...

Do you think that could be affected by the amount of patches?

The more information the system has to work with (more patches), the better its profile will be.

I think Color Care makes a better profile. No doubt you're seeing that. That being said, the best profile is the one you're willing to make--and in that regard, for most people CPS working with a Fiery can't be beat. Just hit the Express Profile button, follow the instructions, and when it's time to scan those 1600 patches, go get a cup of coffee. Done.

I always use 1485 or 1617 patches for profile creation with an ES-2000. Depending on your quality needs you may notice a difference doing any less patches. This does take some extra time but I feel the end result is worth it.

Hi Paul,

thanks for this suggestion. Then I'll try these amounts as soon as possible...

We always use the 1600 patches.

How often do you recommend updating paper profiles by rescanning the 1600?

We calibrate daily, but only redo the paper profiles every couple of months.
