View Full Version : Indesign & Illustrator CC 2014 Crash When Printing To Fiery

I have just upgraded to Indesign & Illustrator CC 2014 and have found that when print to my 700i Digital Press through Fiery, the applications crash after spooling.

The documents print fine but the application crashes without fail.

It looks like when I print using the integrated Fiery Properties in the print dialog (using either one or two-way communication) it triggers the crash; because if I print without going into the Fiery proprieties there is no crash.

I am not sure if it is a Fiery or Adobe issues, so I though I would ask.

Please help.

We are actively looking into this issue. Crash is generic and reproducible on Product Driverís released for 10.9 support on Adobe In Design CC 2014 .

In the meantime, please report the problem to your vendor - Canon, KM, Ricoh, Xerox... so that it is officially reported.

Same here. InDesign crashes after the file prints successfully, but only after going into the Fiery print options screens. Printing without using the Fiery print options does not produce a crash.

We have the same problem. Unfortunately, the support of Xerox can not help. We hope that the problem will be fixed soon, because we can no longer print for weeks. It also can not be printed via PDF. This has never worked for our printer.

In the meantime, could you install Adobe CC application on a 10.7 or 10.8 Mac?

I found I could print normally to my Fierys that way (could not from 10.9)

I don't think you need to go back to CC. I have no problems with CC2014 on 10.8.

That is what i meant. If you have CC 2014 installed on 10.7 or 10.8, you should be able to print OK.

Fix is coming from EFI for those running CC 2014 on 10.9
ETA not known as of yet.

This is occurring on multiple customer computers. Waiting on a fix...

Same here, it doesn't crash if I don't go into the Fiery menu/setup. I don't have the issue in Indesign, just Illustrator. Mac OS 10.9.4 and it didn't do it until upgrading to CC14. :(

I see a response on 8/7/14 about Fiery working to fix the issue of Adobe crashing. Any updates yet? I've got 2 labs and over 80 students very frustrated at Illustrator crashing every time they print.

OK, I'll stand up and say it: file-print is THE worst thing you can do out of Adobe CS.

What you should be doing is making good PDF (if digital print is your end process, use the High Quality Print preset to start) and dropping said good PDF directly onto the printing system.

Voila. The print driver problem is solved, as is every other problem that stems from file-print out of Adobe CS.

No argument on the reliability of printing pdfs. Tell Adobe to take away the Print option. When you have student classes rotating in and out of the labs each day it's tough to get them all trained to pdf everything they want to print. We have a Xerox 560 in between the labs and sometimes students just want to print out a quick test of a design project.
