View Full Version : Unsupported PDL error -> PJL not supported

I hope someone in this forum can assist.

My company currently has two Konica Minolta 'bizhub PRO C5501' digital colour production systems with external Fiery 'PRO80 65-55C-KM' print controllers, see link below for further details.

The file formats supported by this controller are as follows: PostScript, PDF, EPS, TIFF, JPEG, PPML and VPS. However, we have been asked if output from our document composition servers can be sent to these printers as well. Unfortunately, both of our existing composition packages are only configured to output PCL print streams.

When we submit PCL output to the Fiery print controllers, we get the following job error message: 'Unsupported PDL error -> PJL not supported'. Apart from looking at 'PCL' to 'PS/EPS' conversion software, what other options are possible? For example, is it possible to get PCL RIP software and install this onto the same controller box? Both PCL print streams are passed through OcÚ PRISMAsatellite output management software, if that helps with the approach.

Many thanks in advance for any advice with this problem.

Hi Toucan,

The external controller for the KM C55/65XX engines does not support PCL data.
You would have to convert your data before sending it to the rip.
